about

If you don't already know my name is Kyle Kovilaritch. I'm a 25-year-old from Pennsylvania, currently residing in Texas.  I moved here almost two years ago after college seeking that first real "big boy" job out of school. Throughout my years in college I've spent countless hours in our schools news studio, and editing suites, where I was able to learn, and hone my skills in this digital content filled world we live in. I begun to start making a series of short films and music videos to make extra doe and help pay for rent. This is where I figured I could possibly do this for a living.  Music videos were something that I was not familiar with at the beginning, but became one of my favorites to shoot and direct. I also enjoy shooting documentaries, short films, and high school and collegiate sports. In May of 2016, I graduated at Bloomsburg University where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications emphasizing in the Telecommunications field. Shortly after moving down to Texas I accepted a hybrid position at KXAN-TV doing photojournalism and editing shows.

More about my personal life, I'm an avid outdoorsman who loves hunting, fishing, and just spending time in the woods or going on hikes.  Another passion of mine is film/photography, and my work mostly involves a mix of that. I'm also a huge competitor no matter what it comes down to. I guess this started at an early age playing various sports growing up. I still keep an active lifestyle today as my sport of choice is hockey, and believe it or not I've been playing more than ever since moving to Texas.

I put my hockey skating skills to work in a lot of the projects i've worked on by using my inline skates. I enjoy this style of camera operation, because it enhances the way certain fast-paced scenes are shot. Working almost two years in news I've become known at my station for having a more unique style of shooting. A lot of the times I get offered to work on certain projects because of my ability to create certain camera movements and apply quick edits and transitions. With this crazy high tech world we live in I decided to buy a drone last year. I also received my Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification and been using our stations DJI Inspire to get aerial footage to be used by our stations marketing department as well as on telecasts and online content. I really enjoy working with these drones. The capabilities those platforms allow you to capture is absolutely spectacular.

Lately I've been most of  my time and effort on creating visual compelling news packages. I'm currently in the works of filming my first sweeps story. I was thrilled to get this opportunity. Exactly the next big challenge I was looking for. Stay tuned for that!
